An image recording device uses a cassette containing an ink sheet (1), which has two layers of thermally-transferrable ink materials (3a,3b) formed on a substrate (2). Binders for the ink layers are selected so that the first layer (3a) can be removed from the second (3b) immediately after a heat application whilst the layers can come off from the substrate (2) if a cooling period is given. Printing in different colour tones can be performed by controlling for a heat application to the ink sheet on a paper, where two different colours are used for the two ink layers. use - For typewriters, word processors and personal computers.
