PURPOSE:To develop a mold excellent in wear resistance at the internal surface as well as strength, by forming a Cu-plating layer and a thermally sprayed film of Ni-base self-fluxing alloy onto the internal surface of a continuous casting mold made of precipitation-hardening-type Cu-Be alloy and then by applying specific heat treatment to the above. CONSTITUTION:As material for continuous casting mold, a precipitation-hardening-type Cu-Be alloy containing 0.2-0.6% Be is used. A Cu-plating layer of 5-20mum thick is formed onto the part, at the internal surface, to be in contact with a molten metal or the whole surface of this mold. Subsequently, the thermally sprayed film of the Ni-base self-fluxing alloy consisting of 15-20% Cr, 3-4.5% B, 2-5% Si, 0.5-1.1% C, <5% Fe, <1% Co, and the balance Ni is formed to 0.1-1mm thickness on the above plating layer. This mold is heated at 980-1,100 deg.C to undergo melting of the thermally sprayed film and also solution heat treatment of the Cu-Be alloy as base material of the mold, which is subjected to oil quenching and then to heating in a heating furnace to 450+ or -5 deg.C for 3hr to undergo aging treatment. In this way, the continuous casting mold excellent in wear resistance at the internal surface to be in contact with molten steel and having high strength as a whole can be obtained. |
