<p>Balancing equipment for use in conjunction with a continuous fluid filter exchange system includes a balancing support pedestal and a pair of arms mounted in a rotary manner on the pedestal at respective levels above and below the filter. A source of replacement fluid for the exchange system is suspended from the upper support arm, whilst a tank for filtrate from the system is suspended from the lower arm. A supply tube without pumps is provided in order to introduce replacement fluid from the source into the system and a filtrate tube, also without pumps, is provided for conveying filtrate from the system to the tank. Automatic control means are provided on the pedestal for regulating the flow of fluid to the system as a function of the amount of filtrate collected in the tank and said control means are coupled mechanically to the support arms. The device also includes automatic stop means for interrupting the flow of filtrate to the tank when the source of replacement fluid is empty. In an alternative embodiment, the device comprises an inner frame and another, outer frame with the source of replacement fluid and the tank suspended from the lower frame. The lower frame can be moved with respect to the outer frame and the control means are mounted in such a manner that they act in response to relative movements of the inner and outer frames.</p> |
