PURPOSE:To prevent the gas from leaking through a crack produced by a heat shock, as well as to reinforce the electrolyte body, by holding a cloth-form sheet composed mainly of lithium titanate fiber, with at least two sheets of electrolyte bodies. CONSTITUTION:Between two sheets of electrolyte bodies which are made by forming a mixture of a carbonate and lithium alminate by a tape casting method, a cloth-form sheet, composed mainly of lithium titanate fiber added with about 20 wt% of a pulp as a binder, is placed to be used as an electrolyte body. Since the carbonate is molten at the operating temperature of the molten carbonate fuel cell, and held in the cloth-form sheet in this electrolyte body, a good gassealing capacity is exercised. |
