A shrinkable multilayer tube (1) for electrically connecting or terminating cables and a method for the production thereof are disclosed. The multilayer tube (1) comprises a conducting outer layer (2), an insulating inner layer (3) arranged concentrically within the conducting outer layer and an innermost layer (4) arranged concentrically within the insulating layer (3), wherein the innermost (4) layer is formed of a stress controlling material.
