The glass component for use as a brick or as a paving stone comprises a rectangular block (1) incorporating elements (3,4) about its periphery (2) which cooperate with the corresponding elements of a neighbouring block or a suitably shaped frame set into the wall or floor. The elements consist of a projecting rib (3) separated by a planar section (5) from a groove (4). The rib and groove lie at equal distances either side of the median plane of the block.
