The present invention relates to a device and a method for simulating and determining the energy consumption of a system, in particular of a residential building. The device comprises enclosures 11, 20 placed in the same environment as the system, and containing a medium 21. The enclosures 11, 20 in association with the medium 21 have heat-transmission characteristics similar to the building materials of the said system. Heating means 120, as well as means 100 for regulating the temperature of the medium 100 acting on the heating means 120 are provided inside the enclosure 20. Measurement means sensitive to the energy supplied to the medium by the heating means 120 deliver a signal representing the energy consumption of the device. <IMAGE>
