PURPOSE:A multiphase emulsion cosmetic of W/O/W type having improved shelf stability, skin safety and utility characteristics, obtained by blending an oily phase component of middle layer with a dextrin fatty acid ester and a water phase component of outermost layer with specific bentonite. CONSTITUTION:Water or an aqueous solution having dissolved a water-soluble component (e.g. humectant, vitamin or dyestuff) is dispersed and emulsified in an oily phase component consisting of a dextrin fatty acid ester which is an ester of a dextrin having an average polymerization degree of 10-50 glucose unit and a higher fatty acid, an oily substance and a lipophiic surface active agent to give a W/O type emulsion. Then the emulsion is dispersed and emulsified in a water phase component (preferably further blended with xanthan gum) consisting of water dispersion of bentonite containing at least 100mg/100g sodium ion exchangeable with the cation of the emulsion. Bentonite having 150-800 centipoise viscosity in 4wt.% water dispersion is preferable as the bentonite and the amount of the bentonite blended is 0.05-5.0wt.%. |
