PURPOSE:A dye, obtained by adding a polyamine consisting of specific repeating units to an aqueous solution of a dye having a specific hydrophilic group and removing an inorganic salt, highly soluble in water without increasing viscosity, capable of giving printed letters having improved water resistance and useful as inks for an ink jet recording method. CONSTITUTION:A dye obtained by forming a dye having sulfone group or carboxyl group into, e.g. a 5-25% aqueous solution and adding a polyamine or polyarylamine expressed by formula I or II (X is CH2, formula III-V or CH2NHSO2; n is 20-300), normally adjusting the pH to 2-3 and washing the resultant mixture with water to remove an inorganic salt, e.g. NaCl, etc. When the aqueous solution of the polyamine is added, a salt of the dye with the polyamine is once formed as precipitates or gelatinous materials, but redissolved by increasing the pH with NaOH, etc. |
