PURPOSE:To permit the polishing even for a metal mold having a free curved surface by equally dividing the inside of a tetragonal frame including the free curved surface of a metal mold into small regular quadrilateral areas and obtaining the coordinate values of each regular tetragon and polishing the inside of the regular tetragon in succession. CONSTITUTION:When the curved surface of a metal mold 1 is read from a design drawing by a computer or input into a personal computer 7, the square frame 1a including the free curved surface of the metal mold 1 is obtained on the basis of the instruction by a programmer by the computer 7, and the inside of the frame 1a is equally divided into the necessary checkers 1-X. Each address number 30-35, 47-55, 65-74,...n of the checkers surrounded in the free curved surface are instructed into a robot controller 8. Then, the controller 8 instructs the coordinate axis of a robot 9 on the polished metal surface, and installs a tool 11 from a tool bed 10 onto the robot 9 according to the shape of the metal mold 1, and a grindstone 13 is installed in succession onto the robot 9 by an auto-tool changer according to the roughness of the necessary polished surface, and the smaller grindstone number is used, and the final finishing for the free curved surface is carried out. |
