PURPOSE:To obtain an encapsulated toner good in fixability by subjecting a solution containing a monomer, a polymerization catalyst, and a solvent not dissolving the polymer of said monomer to solution polymerization, and microencapsulating this polymerization solution thus obtained. CONSTITUTION:The solution containing a monomer, a polymerization catalyst, and a solvent not dissolving the polymer of said monomer is subjected to the solution polymerization process. The encapsulated toner is obtained by adding a colorant, an outer shell-forming component, and when needed, polyol to this polymerized solution and encapsulating the solution with said component. One kind of monomer or >=2 kinds of monomers may be used. As the solvent not dissolving the polymer, an aliphatic hydrocarbon, such as octane, nonane, or decane, is used, and a monomer to solvent ratio to be used is 90:10-10:90. As the polymerization catalyst, a polymerization initiator, a chain transfer agent, and the like are used. |
