The system for assembling panels of caravans comprises a section 2 intended to receive, in leaktight fashion, the assembly joint and comprises a trim strip 3 for protecting and hiding the means for fixing the section. The section consists of an angle bracket 21 whose legs 22, 23 carry, at their outer edges, cover plates 24, 25. The section is fixed by screws 41, 42 onto the thin edge of the panels 11, 12 and seals 52, 53 are interposed between the panels and the section. A trim strip 3 is fixed onto the section between the legs of the angle bracket 21, and hides the fixing screws 41, 42. The trim strip includes a groove 31 serving as a slideway for the fitting of a canopy. <IMAGE>
