CLOSED NICKEL-HYDROGEN STORAGE BATTERY

PURPOSE:To improve the battery capacity and elongate the life of a closed nickelhydrogen storage battery which uses a non-sintered nickel positive electrode, by mixing metal cobalt powder in a positive electrode active material to prevent capacity decrease at a negative electrode due to large current discharge. CONSTITUTION:In a closed nickel-hydrogen storage battery which uses a non- sintered nickel electrode as a positive electrode and hydrogen storage alloy as a negative electrode, the battery is formed by using a non-sintered nickel electrode made by mixing metal cobalt powder in a positive electrode active material and a hydrogen storage alloy which is not charged as a negative electrode. By increasing the quantity of metal cobalt to be added, charging electricity in the negative electrode is increased in comparison with the charging electricity of the nickel hydroxide which is the active material in the positive electrode, in a closed battery system. Thus decrease of the capacity of the negative electrode which has lower discharge utilization rate.
