The present invention relates to an underground irrigation system allowing either wetting of the land, or infiltration on site and discharge of the rainwater or surface water, via draining nozzles 1 thus limiting the phenomena of erosion of topsoil. It is made up of a draining layer 2 arranged on an impermeable or semi-impermeable layer 3, for the deep wetting of a layer of topsoil 4 which is itself protected by an anticontaminating layer 5 thus limiting the phenomena of evaporation in hot countries. The irrigation system can be adapted either for the direct use of ground-water, or for the use of water towers, or for the use of catchment basins on waterways by means of dams and light works. <IMAGE>
