PURPOSE:To enable effective rolling with less deformation by rolling after heat treatment of a plate which is made by filling the inner space of a sintered porous substrate with cadmium hydroxide as an active material, to convert the cadmium hydroxide in the plate to cadmium oxide. CONSTITUTION:When a plate filled with cadmium hydroxide receives heat treatment, cadmium hydroxide included in the plate is dehydrated to change to cadmium oxide. Density of an active material in the plate thereby increases to reduce the volume, resulting in the increase in the void (remaining holes) volume in the plate from the time when the plate was filled with cadmium hydroxide. By rolling the plate under this condition of increased remaining holes, absorption by the remaining holes under pressure increases to reduce the deformation of the plate after rolling, enabling effective rolling with less deformation. |
