PURPOSE:To improve a reproducing output by forming a track width controlling notched surface and a gradient surface which follows said surface in a prescribed dimension, on one side or both sides of the side end edge of a gap part of a magnetic head chip for adhering to the inside of a groove of a slider to concentrate magnetic flux to the gap. CONSTITUTION:In a magnetic head chip 2, track width TW is controlled by eliminating the wall thickness extending over the overall length of the left side of the end edge of a gap G side which is joined cores 2a, 2b, and a notch surface 6 is provided at least up to a position of an apex AP so as to be vertical to a magnetic recording medium opposed surface 2e. Next to the surface 6, a gradient surface 7 is provided continuously at an angle theta. An origin 7a of the gradient surface 7 is a point on the surface where a distance (t) to the apex AP is <=50mum. According to such constitution, magnetic flux leakage is reduced, and the magnetic flux is concentrated to the gap part, therefore, the reproducing output performance is improved. By inserting this head chip 2 into a groove 3 of a slider 1 and sticking it with glass 5, a composite type magnetic head is completed. |
