In an ice-breaker vessel in which the midship section has an essentially flat bottom and the forward section 12 has an essentially spoon-shaped bottom plating, the stern 13 rises from the plane bottom, the deck astern having a drawn-in section 30 resulting in two corners 29, 31 separated in the longitudinal direction on each long side of the vessel. A downwardly directed, plough-like structure 16 is arranged on the flat bottom with its front edge 17 located forward of the plane where the width-increasing structures 12 pass the water line. The bilges 32 between the side plating and the flat bottom are bent up towards the forward corners 29 while the bilges 33 of the plough-shaped structure 16 run up towards the rear corners 31. <IMAGE> |
