The method for determining the suspension stability is based on the fact that the homogenised suspension is exposed to gravity in a sedimentation vessel for a predetermined time without external mechanical intervention and subsequently the main quantity of the suspension is removed from the upper part of the sedimentation vessel (11) while the remaining quantity of the suspension remains in the lower part of the sedimentation vessel (11) and the solid contained in the remaining quantity is analysed gravimetrically after concentration. A particularly good homogenisation is achieved by the suspension being circulated in a batching vessel (1). The suspension made in this manner can be allowed to run off into a sedimentation vessel. After a predetermined waiting time has passed, the main quantity of the suspension is then first discarded from the sedimentation vessel (11) through an outlet pipe (12).
