The invention relates to a cutter mounting for the cutter head of a wood-chipping machine, in which the cutter remains firmly connected to its adjustably arranged cutter breast plate during regrinding, even if, as a result of the influence of impurities, the required regrinding width considerably exceeds the normal dimension. What is considered essential is that a dismountable chip discharge strip attached to the cutter breast plate protects the latter completely against wear and prevents dust accumulations falling between cutter breast and cutter breast plate when both elements spring off, the cleaning of the chip discharge strip taking place after its removal from the cutter breast plate outside the cutter block, so that the cutter exchange is considerably accelerated. In the working position, the cutter breast plate is firmly secured to the centrifugal wedge by positioning pieces, which engage in said cutter breast plate, in a position corresponding exactly to the set cutter projection. In the cutter removal position however, the cutter breast plate can be radially removed without tilting movement.
