Multi-tongs for suspending glass panes

A tongs-like, suspended gripping device which closes under the influence of gravity and is intended for suspending in particular glass and glass-ceramic panes contains two tongs arms pivotable about a common joint pin and clasping parts fixed to the surfaces of the tongs jaws. Only one pane can be clamped in tongs of this type at the same time. The novel tongs are intended to be able to grip at least two panes at the same time. In the case of tongs which can grip at least two panes, at least one further, additional tongs jaw extending downwards between the surfaces of the tongs jaws is pivotably fixed to the common joint pin and carries at least two grasping parts located opposite the grasping parts fixed to the tongs jaws. These multi-tongs permit the (parallel) suspension of at least two glass panes or glass-ceramic plates, for example during heat treatment in an oven (furnace, kiln), on a common holding and/or transporting means.
