SEPARABLE FIXING DEVICE FOR THE HANDLES OF TOOLS

A household or garden appliance, such as a broom, has a handle (1) which can be readily detached from an appliance head (3). The latter has an undercut groove (4) to receive a ledge (5) fitted to the end of the handle (1). The plane of the base of the groove (4) is inclined at an angle (9) to the horizontal, whilst the plane of the end face of the ledge is oblique to the longitudinal axis of the handle. This feature enables the handle to be fitted at either 70 or 90 deg. to the horizontal.
