Steering control device for a vehicle with frontwheel drive and/or rear-wheel drive, for the purpose of selectively deflecting respectively the front wheels or the rear wheels only or the front wheels and the rear wheels simultaneously in the same orientation and/or in opposite orientations, comprising means (6; 63) for deflecting the front wheels, means (10; 65) for deflecting the rear wheels, connection means (16; 67) for selectively connecting the front-wheel deflection means and the rear-wheel deflection means, means (36) for detecting the orientation of the front wheels, means (37) for detecting the orientation of the rear wheels, selections means (47) for selecting one of the abovementioned deflection modes, and control means sensitive to the said selection means and to the said orientation detection means and intended for activating the said connection means, characterized in that the said control means comprise means for activating the said connection means (16; 67), in the event that the said selection means (47) select a simultaneous deflection of the front wheels and of the rear wheels, when the said means (36) for detecting the orientation of the front wheels indicate that the front wheels are oriented along the longitudinal axis of the vehicle, and for inactivating the said connection means (16; 67), in the event that the said selection means (47) select a deflection of the front wheels only, when the said means (37) of detecting the orientation of the rear wheels indicate that the rear wheels are oriented along the longitudinal axis of the vehicle, and for maintaining the state of the said connection means (16; 67) if the deflection mode selected and controlled is maintained. |
