The apparatus for filling cracks or similar recesses by means of a free-flowing composition has a storage chamber (6c) into which the composition (8) is introduced. After filling the storage chamber (6c), a compressive force is applied by a force accumulator (5) and the volume of the storage chamber (6c) is reduced by displacing the composition (8) into the crack (1a) which is to be filled. This procedure can be interrupted at any time by eliminating the compressive force. <IMAGE>
