In this winding machine, the winding roller (5) receiving the package is arranged in a fixed winding station (4) and is provided with its own drive (8, 9). The contact roller (1) likewise provided with its own drive (2, 3) is assigned a changing device which possesses, in addition to a pivotable feed fork (12) for supplying a new winding shaft (6), a first cutting device (32) for severing a foil web obliquely in the vicinity of the new winding shaft (6) held in its upper supply position and which has a second cutting unit (55) for severing the foil web at right angles in the swung-down transfer position of the new winding shaft (6). At the same time, the new winding shaft (6) kept ready in the feed fork (12) also has its own drive here. The overall arrangement consisting of the contact roller (1), of the feed fork (12) and of the two cutting devices (32, 35), including an associated measuring roller (41), is arranged on a slide (39) which is movable relative to the winding roller (5) located in the fixed winding station (4). <IMAGE>
