The sole of the human foot possesses many mechanoreceptors and nerve receptors which supply information to the nervous system to respond with the appropriate behaviour in order to protect in particular the lower extremities against injuries. The currently available insoles with irregular surfaces are intended to cause pleasant sensations by massage or the like. The insole remains uniformly compressed when loaded. In order to reduce the risk of injuries by overstraining the sole of the foot on excessive loading, a multiplicity of local foot sole deformations is generated. The biofeedback insole is for this purpose subdivided by a foam-like plastic into regions 38 in which particles 40 are displaced with every step. The stimulation of the sole of the foot produced by their distribution each time can elicit protective behavioural reactions. The biofeedback insole is preferably suitable for use in sports shoes.

|
