<p>A shearing apparatus for bar stock comprising a fixed die (12) and a movable die (14) wherein the movable die (14) comprises a shearing ring (25) carried by an arm (24) at a location intermediate the ends of the arm (24), an eccentric (38) fixed on a driven shaft (34) is journalled in one end of the arm (24), and the other end of the arm includes a slot (24A) which receives a rotationally mounted slide block (27) so that the slot (24A) and slide block (27) coact to accommodate combined rotary and translatory movement of that end of the arm. The described arranement produces an elliptical loop movement of the movable die (14) relative to the fixed die (12) to cleanly shear the stock.</p> |
