PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide antibodies to MUC16 and use methods therefor.SOLUTION: The invention provides an antibody and antigen-binding fragment thereof that specifically binds to a polypeptide or antigenic portion thereof, where the polypeptide is selected from a) MUC16 ectodomain polypeptide; b) MUC16 cytoplasmic domain; and c) MUC16 extracellular polypeptide containing a cysteine loop polypeptide. The antibodies and compositions comprising them are useful in diagnostic and therapeutic applications for diseases in which MUC16 is over expressed, such as cancer.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
