PURPOSE:To permit high-speed printing by a multiple tonal gray scale by a method in which plural pulse signals are applied, fine ink droplets of corresponding numbers are discharged to join them into one ink droplet, and printing is made. CONSTITUTION:A pulser 45 is comprised of the first pulse generator 51 and the second pulse generator 53. The gate width of the first pulse generator 51 is set up by a controller 47, and pulse numbers of specific one group to be applied to the printing head 1 are specified. The output of the pulse generator 51 is connected to the gate input of the pulse generator 53. A series of pulse group numbers corresponding to a tone to be printed from the pulse generator 53 are applied to the heating resistors of the head 1, a series of fine ink droplets corresponding to the pulse numbers from the head 1 are discharged, and they are combined together and printed on a paper 41. |
