PURPOSE:To effectively carry out dehydrogenation for the clad resin of an optical fiber by heating the clad optical fiber to a specified temp. during vacuum-drawing. CONSTITUTION:A preform of glass fiber for transmitting light is heated and melted and drawn into a bare line for optical fiber. The outer periphery of this bare line is clad with primary covering of thermosetting resin or ultraviolet curing resin. Then, this optical fiber is contained in a vacuum vessel and heated at normal temp. - 150 deg.C while vacuum-drawing is carried out. And moreover, after the material for dehydrogenation is blown into the vacuum vessel, vacuum- drawing is carried out to degas the gaseous hydrogen generated in the clad material. |
