PURPOSE:To obtain an India ink stick which has good coloring and luster and can be produced in a short period of time, by impregnating a charcoal with a water-soluble binder. CONSTITUTION:A charcoal obtained by baking in a wetted state a carbonaceous material such as an oak, a bamboo or a pine is immersed in an aqueous solution containing a water-soluble binder such as PVA or CMC, a pressure is applied thereto to infiltrate the binder into the voids of the charcoal, and this charcoal is dried spontaneously. An aqueous solution containing a water-soluble binder is applied to the surface of this charcoal and dried spontaneously. The above- mentioned process can afford an India ink stick capable of giving letters with the coloring and luster comparable to those obtained with an India ink stick produced about a century ago and generally believed to be of good quality.
|
