<p>PURPOSE:To improve the accuracy of a sheet thickness by providing a means for detecting the rolling load of vertical rolls, disposing means for removing friction load, determining the information on the actual rolling load and controlling the opening and closing of the vertical rolls in accordance with the determined information. CONSTITUTION:A rolling load detecting circuit 1 having a rolling load detector for the vertical rolls is provided and a friction load removing circuit 4 for removing the rolling load based on mechanical friction is disposed. Further, a gap position detector 9 for the vertical rolls and an opening and closing direction detector 11 are respectively disposed. The actual rolling load is outputted from the circuit 4 when the information on the rolling load of the load detecting circuit 1 is inputted to the friction load removing circuit 4. An opening and closing driving circuit 3 for the vertical rolls is then controlled in accordance with such actual rolling load. Since the sheet width on the outlet side of the stands is controlled in accordance with the information on the exact actual rolling load in the above-mentioned manner, the accuracy of the sheet thickness of the product is enhanced.</p> |
