PURPOSE:To prevent the erroneous flight of ink, by arranging heat generating elements at a specific interval and driving the predetermined heat generating element according to an image signal while driving the remaining heat generating elements at a driving level lower than that of said heat generating element. CONSTITUTION:When the intensity of the electric field formed between an induction electrode 8 and an opposed electrode 9 is set to E1, the interval of heat generating elements is set to a wavelength lambdaM smaller than the wavelength lambda1 of a fastest wave. When a serial image signal is inputted to a shift register 13 from an image memory 12, the drive signal equivalent to the image signal from a control part 15 is outputted from an AND gate 16. By this constitution, in an imaging part, a transistor 17 is turned ON to apply voltage of V1=14V to the corresponding heat generating element 4 and, in a non-imaging part, a transistor 20 is turned ON to apply voltage of V2=3V to the corresponding heat generating element 4. As a result, ink flight is generated from the imaging part to adhere ink to recording paper 1 and no ink flight is generated in the non-imaging part and erroneous flight is suppressed. |
