A coiling machine (10) has a material guide (12), a first pin (13), a second pin (14), a pitch tool (15), a cutting tool (16), a heating device (17), a temperature sensor (18), and a control unit. A material (2) continuously coming out of the front end (12a) of the material guide bends between the first pin (13) and the second pin (14), and as a result a circular arc section (2a) is formed between the first pin and the second pin. The control unit selects, from among a plurality of control data corresponding to working temperatures, control data corresponding to the temperature of the material detected by the temperature sensor. The control unit controls the positions of the first pin and the second pin so that the higher the temperature of the material, the greater the curvature radius of the circular arc section, and the control unit also controls the position of the cutting tool so that the distance from the center (C1) of curvature of the circular arc section to the cutting tool increases. |
