PURPOSE:To realize a magnetic regeneration operation in addition to a recording operation without the need for excess space and complex construction, by providing a thin film magnetic head together with a dot forming means consisting of a plurality of electrothermal conversion bodies on a common substrate. CONSTITUTION:A dot forming means 21 is provided on the front of a substrate 20 and a thin film head 22 is attached to the side of the substrate 20; the both are formed to be flush with a platen 5 and disposed so as to be brought into pressure contact with the platen 5 in position when the head moves down in recording or regeneration. In the recording to a sheet; a main scanning is carried out with a carriage 8 while the sheet is accordingly fed, and in this condition a printing is conducted on a portion other than a magnetic stripe portion 37 by using an ink ribbon 13. In the regeneration to the sheet; the sheet 6 is fed until being set in position so that the magnetic stripe 37 is adjusted to be flush with the platen 5 and the magnetic head 22, and the writing or reading of data is carried out while the carriage 8 is travelled in the condition that the magnetic head 22 is depressed down. |
