This element comprises, held in a metal frame 7, two panels 1 which are spaced apart and made of an incombustible material, and a thermally insulating and incombustible spongy filling material placed in the space between the two panels. It furthermore comprises, placed in the said space, bags 5 made of impermeable and incombustible material such as a thermoplastic or glass, filled with a non-inflammable cooling liquid 6 having a boiling point between approximately 100 DEG C and approximately 150 DEG C, these bags being distributed within the filling material and being capable of opening by melting or bursting at a temperature at most equal to the boiling temperature of the cooling liquid, releasing their contents, which absorb heat when heated and boiling, extending the duration of the resistance of the element to fire. <IMAGE>
