The present invention relates to a heat engine of a novel type. This engine comprises a compressor connected by a mechanical transmission to a rotary pressure-reducing device or vane motor which drives it. The pressure-reducing device, forming the drive part of the system, is composed of a rotor, traversed by a bar sliding on rolling-contact bearings, which carries scrapers at its ends. The scrapers, in turn brush against the chamber of a cylinder-shaped stator, during the pressure-reducing and exhaust periods of the gases. The hollowed-out cheeks of the stator allow the passage of the shafts and allow air into the rotor. This motor may advantageously be used in numerous cases. <IMAGE>
