The invention relates to a system for fixing a tool (milling cutter) onto a machine-tool tool-holding member (spindle, auxiliary sleeve). The tool comprises a cutting element 8 secured to a male fixing part composed of a frustoconical heel 9, of a threaded shank 11, and advantageously of a cylindrical tenon 12, these elements being coaxial. The tool-carrying member has a female part comprising a frustoconical bearing surface 2 conjugate to the heel 9, a tapped hole 3 conjugate to the shank 11 and advantageously a cylindrical bearing surface 4 conjugate to the tenon 12. The fixing system in accordance with the invention makes it possible to obtain good radial centering of the tool, good axial positioning of the latter and excellent mechanical behaviour, whilst benefiting from great structural simplicity and remarkable ease of installation and removal. <IMAGE>
