The invention relates to a device for assembling threads. The threads 2 are held laterally by stitches along their length and they may slide longitudinally with respect to one another, the lateral holding of the threads 2 being produced by the weft threads and the warp threads of a woven strip 3. A single lap of threads covers one face of the strip 3, but provision may also be made for a second lap of continuous threads to cover the opposite face of the strip. The warp threads of the strip are made up of a material which has a low coefficient of friction with the continuous threads 2. Application in the needlework field. <IMAGE>
