PURPOSE:To obtain the titled substance useful as a raw material for heat- resistant polymers inexpensively, by using benzene fluoride, carbon monoxide and a phenol, as simple compounds by iodization of benzene fluoride, esterification with carbon monoxide and the phenol and rearrangement in the presence of an acid catalyst. CONSTITUTION:Benzene fluoride is reacted with iodine and hydrogen iodide in the presence of an oxidizing agent to give p-iodofluorobenzene, which is reacted with carbon monoxide and a phenol shown by formula I (R<1>-R<4> are H, alkyl, etc.) containing no substituent group on the p-position in the presence of a carbonylation catalyst to give a p-fluorobenzoic acid phenyl ester, which is further subjected to rearrangement reaction in the presence of an acid catalyst to give a 4-(p-fluorobenzoyl)phenol shown by formula II. EFFECT:Has high yield and high selectivity. USE:An intermediate for agricultural chemicals, drugs, etc. |
