This magnetoelectric flow meter comprises a channel 1 of rectangular cross-section; a device for producing an electric field comprises two electrode plates 2, 3 placed symmetrically on two opposite sides of the channel 1, each electrode being connected to an excitation circuit 45, two connection branches 8, 9 arranged symmetrically with respect to a measuring device 12, 13, each electrode being split into two symmetrical half-electrodes 2a, 2b; 3a, 3b, each connected by one of the two connection branches 8a, 8b; 9a, 9b to the excitation circuit 41; the device for measuring the magnetic field consists of two coils 12, 13 arranged symmetrically on either side of the channel 1. <IMAGE>
