The invention relates to a control valve with a valve body with an inlet port, an outlet port and a pair of working ports, with devices for selectively connecting the inlet port to one or the other working port and the outlet port to the other respective working port. Non-return valves are connected to the working ports in order to normally prevent a flow of fluid into the working ports, e.g. from a hydraulic cylinder. Each of the working ports is connected to a control port in the non-return valve which is allocated to the other working port, specifically via a control line which is designed in the form of a bore in the valve body. When the pressure fluid is taken to the inlet port, the non-return valve which is allocated to the connected working port is opened in order to permit a flow of fluid to the hydraulic cylinder. Furthermore, a portion of the pressure fluid flows through the associated control line to the non-return valve which is connected to the other working port in order to then open this non-return valve and permit a flow of fluid from the hydraulic cylinder into the associated working port and to the connected outlet port.
