Gas-phase olefin oligomerisation

Aligomerisation of olefins is effected in the gas phase on a solid catalyst comprising a superacidic fluoride of a Gp. IIIb, IVb and/or Vb element. The catalyst pref. comprises 0.1-30 (esp. 5-15) wt.% of HBF4, NH4BF4, H2SiF6, (NH4)2SiF6 or HPF6 on an alumina support. The reaction is pref. effected at 100-400 (esp. 100-300) deg.C and 1-80 (esp. 5-50) bar with a WHSV of 0.1-5. The feed is pretreated to remove butadiene.
