The inner heat insulation is intended for walls of areas through which gas flows and exhibits a covering for the insulating material which comprises sheet-metal elements (6) which are fastened on the wall and overlap at the edges. The sheet-metal coverings have a profile which is in the form of a right-angled casing and has a flat side which is open towards the insulating material. On two sides abutting in a corner there are provided channel-like folded edges (7) and also, in this corner, an underlying piece (9) whose surface extent is equal to or greater than the width of the folded edges (7). For fastening the sheet-metal elements (6), the invention provides supports (2) with elastically movable tongues (3) which are fixedly connected to the wall (Figure 2). <IMAGE>
