An inking unit has a ductor roller driven at low speed, a plurality of inking unit rollers rotating at the circumferential speed of the plate cylinder, and an oscillating roller which moves back and forth and transports the ink between the ductor roller and the inking unit rollers. In order to achieve a sufficient, even application of ink on the plate, even at high circumferential speeds of the plate cylinder, the arrangement is such that the oscillating roller is in contact simultaneously with two inking unit rollers in its one end position.
