摘要 According to the invention, a method and a device for controlling the firing point in an internal combustion engine are provided, in which the firing point is determined on the basis of the internal combustion engine speed for the load condition, a distinction is made on the basis of the output of a knock detection circuit as to whether or not knocking has occurred, the firing point thus determined is put back or retarded by a predetermined value if knocking occurs and the firing point brought forward or advanced by a predetermined value once knocking has been prevented. The maximum value of the ignition retardation and ignition advance which is allowed for if knocking occurs varies as a function of one or more operating conditions of the internal combustion engine, making it possible to adjust the firing point close to MBT and to obtain the maximum possible output power of the internal combustion engine. The operating condition or conditions of the internal combustion engine comprise an engine speed in the case of compensation in the direction of an ignition retarding adjustment and an internal combustion engine speed and a load condition in the case of compensation bringing about an advancement of the firing point.
