The invention relates to an apparatus, by means of which cup sticks of predetermined length are transferred from a conveyor band into a carton, or vice versa. The design of the apparatus should make it possible for this apparatus to be capable of being used selectively. The transfer should be unsusceptible to faults, and complicated format parts should not be necessary. The carton feed and discharge should allow various possibilities. This is achieved by means of an inclinable carton receptacle and inclined guides for grippers which carry out the transfer. <IMAGE>
