A driven steering axle for agricultural tractors and utility vehicles in which the wheel hub 8 and wheel-side parts (inter alia joint head 1a) of the axle body 1 are intended to lie within the contour of the wheel, is of a special design in order to increase the maximum steering lock of the steered wheels 9 and to simplify removal and re-installation of specific components (inter alia shaft joint 19, shaft 20) located within the wheel hub 8 and/or the axle body 1. The measures which are proposed for this and act partially in combination, consist in, firstly, various components, for example the shaft joint 19, some of which may be considered for replacement, were reduced in terms of diameter and length with a wheel hub 8 of enlarged diameter and, secondly, the penetration point P of the wheel head axis 5 through the axis of the wheel 9 was positioned beyond the central plane M of the wheel 9 which defines the wheel gauge S of the vehicle.
