PHOTOGRAPHIC ELEMENTS AND LIQUIDE FOR THE PROCESSING OF SUCH ELEMENTS CONTAINING A BIOCIDE

Photographic element contains a hydrophilic colloid and as biocide 5-bromo-5-nitro-1,3-dioxan (I) to inhibit growth of both fungi and bacteria. Also new are liq. coating solns. for mfr. of such elements and liq. treating solns. contg. (I). Pref. the elements contain 1 or more Ag halide emulsion layers and (I) is incorporated at 2-30 mg/sq.cm. The coating solns. contain Ag halide, colloid binder and 50-500 mg/l (I). The treating solns. (e.g. a developer, complexing or bleach soln.) contains (I) at 50-500 mg/l.
