PURPOSE:To eliminate necessity for searching for the position of a type wheel at the time of the replacement or mounting of said type wheel and, further, to facilitate the replacement of a daisy wheel, by a method wherein the opening of a lid is detected and a type selecting motor is rotated to a definite position and the rotation of said motor is subsequently prohibited. CONSTITUTION:When a lid is opened, control for selecting a type 'I' is started. Next, in a step C, the difference of the present rotary position of a daisy wheel 1 and the angle of rotation at the time of the selection of the type 'I' is calculated, and the rotary direction of a type selecting motor 2 and the number of steps required in rotation are determined to rotate the type selecting motor. Next, in a step D, it is judged whether the daisy wheel moves to an objective position and, when said wheel 1 already arrives time objective position, the type selecting motor 2 is set to a holding state in a step G and, at the same time, the operation of a timer 9 is started. Subsequently, in a step G, CPU14 confirms the state of a detection switch 8 and judges whether the lid is closed. When the lid is closed in the step G, the holding state of the type selecting motor 2 is released immediately to finish the operation. |
