For avoidance of complications, that may be life-threatening, following surgical interventions as a result of gauze pads and/or gauze cloths (abdominal cloths) being left behind in the body of the operated patient, the gauze pads or gauze cloths used are such that thin - free or coated - metal threads of a rust-proof, optimally flexible radiopaque material are woven or knitted into them during production. This type of gauze pads or gauze cloths permits recognition of any gauze pads or gauze cloths accidentally left behind in the body, by means of an X-ray examination and removal thereof in another surgical intervention. |
